Chris Ennis

  • Chris manages the CERES Organic Farm and Fair Food, part of a thriving environmental education centre in the heart of Melbourne. On 12 acres of rehabilitated landfill site, the farm feeds and inspires urban farmers and eaters of all ages, abilities and backgrounds with a demonstration local food system that includes a nursery, organic market gardens, an aquaponics system, bees, an organic food market, home delivery service, community co-ops and a local in-season catering service. CERES is visited by over 400,000 people every year, employs a staff of over 180 farmers, teachers, cooks & retail workers and generates income of over $8 million.

Chris also founded the 1st Urban Orchard produce swap at CERES, a simple idea which has spread across the country and overseas. When he’s not on the farm Chris also works as a consultant helping community organisations plan and develop social enterprises.
