Food 4 Thought — exploring meaningful livelihoods in urban agriculture

A national gathering nestled comfortably in Hobart with some of Australia’s greatest food garden innovators coming together to teach connect, share, inspire and mobilise.

This will allow the organising team to finalise catering and other arrangement for the gathering. We look forward to seeing you in Hobart.  Just a reminder, we will NOT be selling tickets at the door, this is a pre-paid event.

Let’s come together to learn, connect, share, push the boundaries and celebrate urban agriculture.

This gathering is for local and state government staff (town planners, community development officers, policy makers), community/school gardeners, home gardeners, smallhold farmers, urban agriculture practitioners and for the rest of us curious folk who are new to this field.

The weekend will consist of a broad range of engaging activities including:
  • field trips to local school and community gardens
  • hands-on workshops to learn techniques in food production, seed saving, composting, cooking and more
  • panel discussions with some of the top thinkers in the country
  • music to delight the ears, the senses, the feet
  • abundant opportunities to network with like-minded professionals
  •  nutritious, local catering.

The venue is a short bus journey from Hobart city. For those wanting (needing?) a little exercise, Google maps estimate the 4km walking time from Hobart city to the venue via Elizabeth Street and New Town Road at 50 minutes.
